Jason McArthur - Founder/Principal
Over the past 30 years, Jason McArthur has developed more than $2.5B worth of apartment projects throughout the southeastern United States. He is a seasoned real estate executive with extensive experience as a principal and as a corporate officer. He began his real estate career in Atlanta, Georgia with Gables Residential Trust, a multi-family REIT that was a public roll up of four divisions of Trammell Crow Residential. In 1999, Jason started the South Florida division for Wood Partners. He grew the division from a one-man operation to a team of more than 20 professionals that completed ten multi-family development projects valued at more than $700MM, which included garden apartments and condominiums as well as mid-rise and high-rise projects.
After returning to the Carolinas in 2007, Jason remained active in real estate development through Mission Properties LLC, a company he started in Florida in 2004. Mission has developed more than 40 projects in Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina, including single-family lot development, townhouses, office, residential condominiums and townhomes, mixed-use projects, and more than 5,000 rental apartments totaling over $1B of asset value.
Jason received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and he also earned an MBA degree from UNC’s Kenan Flagler Business School. He and his wife, Jennifer, have five children and live in Charlotte, NC.
Jordan McCarley - Principal
Jordan McCarley has over 16 years of multifamily capital markets experience beginning in 2005 with Southeast Apartment Partners (“SEAP”) in Atlanta. In 2007, he moved to Charlotte, NC to expand the firm’s presence in the Carolinas and open the North Carolina office. Jordan led the Carolinas’ effort for SEAP and was instrumental in the firm’s growth. He was named a partner in 2011 when the firm restructured to Multi Housing Advisors (“MHA”).
From 2011 to 2016, Jordan continued to head the Carolinas as MHA became the largest boutique brokerage firm in the Southeast. In 2016, MHA sold to Cushman & Wakefield (“C&W”) to form the largest multifamily brokerage team in the region, C&W Multifamily Advisory Group. At C&W, Jordan served on the leadership committee for the group and oversaw the team’s expansion into new offices in Raleigh and Charleston.
Jordan left C&W at the end of 2021 as Executive Vice Chair of Capital Markets. During his brokerage career, Jordan was involved in the disposition of over 700 transactions totaling more than $20B in sales volume.
Jordan graduated from University of Georgia with a BBA in Risk Management. He currently lives in Charlotte with his wife, Ellen, and their three sons.
Tom Egan
Tom Egan has worked with Mission Properties for over 8 years. He is the Development Manager overseeing many projects in the office from conception to completion and beyond. He serves as the point of contact for Investors, Partners, General Contractors, Architects, Civil Engineers, Landscape Architects, Interior Designers, Property Managers and all other necessary Consultants. He works as project manager overseeing scheduling, billing and delegating tasks required to successfully complete the company's original project’s vision. He works with Jason and other department heads to establish project milestones and financial projections. Tom reviews work progress on a daily basis and works to complete all projects as originally conceived – effectively, efficiently and within budget. Tom has overseen approximately 20 projects for Mission Properties totaling 2500 units and valued at over $425MM.
Tom Graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Design Degree. He has worked for a couple of Charlotte staples such as David Furman Architecture designing and detailing many multifamily projects and Andrew Roby General Contractors heading up $1MM+ residential and historic high-end renovations. Tom began his Multifamily Development shift with Levine Properties back in 2010 before meeting Jason McArthur and starting with Mission properties.
Tom has acted as Chairperson for both the Charlotte Historic District Commission and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission. He splits his time between Charlotte and Wilmington NC where he resides with his wife Nancy and three wonderful children – Colin, Cara and Claire.
Tara Bechstein
Tara Bechstein brings over seventeen years of public accounting to the Mission Properties’ team. She started her career with Grant Thornton in Charlotte and after several years moved to a local accounting firm where she continued to expand her knowledge on real estate and high net worth individuals. It was through one of Tara’s clients that she met Jason and finally joined the Mission Properties team in April 2021.
Tara is originally from Ohio and received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting and her Masters of Accountancy from Bowing Green State University. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina. Outside of work, Tara and her husband, Drew stay busy keeping up with their two sons.
Jennifer McArthur
Jennifer McArthur has provided administrative and accounting services for Mission Properties since 2013. Her previous work experience was in fundraising (Brookstone Schools and Duke University) and before that, human resources and information technology. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1995 with a degree in Political Science. She and Jason have been married since 1998 and have five children.
